rainbow layer cake!

ever since i saw this cake on pinterest, i have been dying to make it. we finally got around to it!

ok so the color part turned out awesomely. we made our own buttercream frosting instead of the meringue frosting because we didn't have enough eggs. too bad there wasn't enough icing to ice the outside! also, the actual cake was kinda spongey (maybe because it called for just egg whites?), and the taste was not that awesome. next time i think i'll just use a white cake mix.

father's day

berry awesome thing and homemade strawberry gelato. get in my tummy.

lets get together

If there's one thing that all of my State College friends enjoy, it's an outdoor get together on a warm summer evening. This includes (but is not limited to) music, food (duh), and fire.

HOMEMADE POPCORN! can't get enough of this stuff in my mouth.
How pretty is this fruit?!
Have you seen these mini soda cans!? So cute!
Frost your own cuppycake! How fun!

oh my thai

Georgetown Cupcakes

A few weekends ago I took a little trip to visit my brother and sister-in-law. They live in DC. Since it was my first time visiting them, I had to (obviously) get a cupcake at the famous Georgetown cupcakes shop! If you don't know about this bakery, it's run by two sisters and has a reality type show on TLC. Before actually tasting one, I wondered how good a cupcake could actually be...how could there be a 15+ minute line every day, ALL day long? What is all the hype about? Anyways, I got a coconut cupcake, and Tim got his favorite: red velvet.

So many cupcakes!

Well, I've been converted. I've never been much of a cake person, but these cupcakes are out of this world delicious. The frosting is unlike any other, and the actual cake part was the perfect heaviness and texture...not to mention the taste! Let it be known, Georgetown Cupcakes are worth the long line!
